On October 20th at 7:00 pm, the eve of the canonization, a prayer vigil was held at the Saint Francis Xavier Mission Church in Kahnawake. On October 21st, Pope Benedict XVI in Rome canonized Kateri Tekakwitha. To mark this special occasion, everyone was invited to come and watch the rebroadcast of the canonization at 9 a.m. at the Kateri School facing Saint Francis Xavier Mission in Kahnawake. It is in this Church that the remains of Saint Kateri, the lily of the Mohawks, are entombed. A Eucharistic celebration at 10:30 am was presided by Msgr. Jacques Berthelet, C.S.V., bishop emeritus of Saint-Jean-Longueuil. A procession to the tomb of Kateri was held afterward within the church and a period of adoration followed until 5 p.m. Salt+Light Catholic TV from Toronto completed a new 60-minute DVD about Kateri (with over 90 minutes of extras). They have been quite active filming the Mission Church, Native celebrations and the shrines in Fonda and Ossernenon/Auriesville in the United States. It was shown to the Pope and the Roman Curia on October 20th and was a World Television Premiere exclusively broadcast on October 21st, 8PM (ET) on Cable-TV Channel 242 on Videotron.. It was repeated several times after the canonization.
